Vaastu Shastra lays down guidelines on all aspects of house designing, including the planting of auspicious trees and plants around the house. As Vastu is a science, there is logical, scientific explanation for Each and every guideline.

Vaastu Shastra guides us as to what types of plants and trees should be planted around a dwelling place to enjoy their positive properties. By planting and growing plants, and trees, the family will be benefited. Trees are nothing but heavenly Elements, Trees bless us with all power related to our peaceful living Trees & plants should be planted during the bright half, i.e., close to full moon. Seeds - Saplings should first be planted in clay pots and only later placed in the ground. This enables them to grow better.

Some plants and trees are prohibited in living place due to their release of negative vibes which are harmful. Interrelation with science and mythology as Plants and trees having great importance in nature as well as in human life. They consume many harmful gases from the Environment air to make their food and thus clean the environment. Also they release certain gases through breathing. However, the nature of gases released by different trees and plants differs.

It is always good to grow a Tulasi plant on one’s property. Tulasi should be located on the north, northeast, or east sides of the house, or in front of the house. Trees should not be planted directly in front of the house’s main entrance. There should be an even number of trees on one’s property, not an odd number.

Tall, heavy Trees should be planted on the south or west sides of the house being heavy which enhances the energy of north east & tall, heavy trees stops negative energy.

Small, Light Trees Should be planted on North, North East, It is not good to plant a tall tree on the north, northeast, or east sides of a building.  The trees should be away from the building so that the shadow of any tree does not fall upon the house As it may obstruct the beneficial cosmic radiations.

LAWNS AND WATER BODIES- Lawns should be in the East or the North.  If there is a swimming pool in the garden, A small water-fall or a water body can  be constructed in the North-East corner. so that the people using the pool benefit from the sun rays and also the water will get purified by the  U.V rays of the Sunlight.

East: Vata, Peepa,l Trees Bearing Fruits
South: Goolar, Pakad,Nimba
West: Peepal, Vata, Amra (Mangao), Kela (Banana)
North: Pakad, Goolar, Kela (Banana)
South-East: Anaar (Pomegranate), Milking Trees, Red Flowers trees, Thorny plants, Pakad, Goolar, Shalmli, Vata, Peepal
South-West: Imli, Kadamba
North-West: Beil Trees & Plants With Thorns
North-East: Amla & Kela (Banana)

Certain trees have complex roots and if planted near the building their roots will reach underneath the walls and damage the building.

A List Of Good Trees To Plant: Coconut, Neem, Betal, Sandalwood, Lemon, Pineapple, Bilva, Almond, Jackfruit, Pomegranate, Mango, Amla, And Katha. Banyan And Pipal (Aswatha) Are Sacred Trees They Should Usually Only Be Planted Near A Temple Or At A Sacred Place.

Creepers or other plants should not be grown by using the building or compound wall as support. Creepers should only be grown in a garden, creepers with flowers except yellow flowers should be planted if you wish to and they should have their own independent supports.

Fruit bearing Trees like Aam, Jamun, Kela; milk bearing trees like Mahua, Peeple, Vata; and thorn plants like babool, ber, katari etc are prohibited to plant in house as they are inauspicious for homes and effect health of occupants. 

Stone sculptures and rock gardens should be located on the southwest side of the house because they are heavy.

Thorny plants should not be planted near the house. Cactus should not be planted at all. Thorny plants other than roses have a negative energy. Ideally all thorny plants should be pulled up and destroyed.
